If you are not training your are debilitating. The research shows the importance of engaging in some type of physical movement activity - frequently to maintain the integrity of the tissues that make up your musculoskeletal system. The training you choose to do is ultimately a personal preference. Unfortunately, the training you do may not optimize your performance potential and may possibly lead to injuries. This is because if your personal training routine does not address movements in all directions you are decreasing the the fluid content and collagen fiber strength and alignment of all the tissues of the musculoskeletal system that allow you to move in all directions. So the take home message is: add variety to your workouts, remember to frequently stretch and strengthen your body in multiple planes of motion.  Your multiplanar movements can be the best medicine against the debilitating effects of inactivity and training you may be doing in a limited range of motion.
